Bosch refrigerator and fridge repair
A Bosch 800 Series counter-depth fridge can test itself. Power it down for 5 minutes, switch it back on, and hold the menu button for 10 seconds inside the first 2 minutes. Two tones at the end means it passed.

Running the Bosch self-test before you call
Power down
Switch the fridge off and leave it off for 5 minutes. The test can only be started in a short window after power returns.
Hold menu
Within the first 2 minutes after switching back on, press and hold the menu button for 10 seconds, until a tone sounds.
Listen
A long tone plays while the program runs. Two tones at the end, with the set temperature on the display, means the fridge is OK.
Read Er
Five tones with Er in the settings display mean the electronics logged a fault. Write it down along with the E-Nr and FD numbers.
Bosch fridge faults and where they point
Bosch publishes a short code list for its US refrigerators, so most diagnosis starts with what the fridge is doing. These six come up again and again on counter-depth and built-in models.
E02 on the display
Either the ice maker failed or the ice and water controls stopped talking. Bosch says reset the breaker for 30 seconds first.
E03 on the display
A fault in the dispenser user interface. Same 30-second reset; if it returns, the panel and its wiring need testing.
Ice stops early
An ice scoop left on the cubes fools the fill sensor. A bin that is not seated and aligned stops production too.
Freezer alarm sounding
It can trip harmlessly after switch-on, a long door opening or a big grocery load. Repeated alarms are a different story.
Dispenser runs slow
Bosch blames a kinked hose, low pressure or a blocked filter. The supply needs 29 to 116 psi.
New rattles and buzzing
Gurgling and defrost cracking are normal. Rattles usually mean the cabinet is out of level or touching a neighbor.

Does damp Oahu air bother a Bosch fridge?
It can, and Bosch designs for it. The counter-depth manual describes a door pillar with condensation protection and a cabinet front kept slightly warm so moisture does not settle along the door seal. Beads of water on the pillar or the seal area point to that heater or a tired gasket. Windward lowland homes often sit at 70 to 80 percent humidity. Power costs bite too: in July 2026 Hawaii paid 48.00 cents per kWh against 18.31 cents nationally, so a fault that keeps a 568 kWh fridge running longer costs more here.
