Perlick repair for ice makers and bar refrigeration

In 2022 Perlick brought out Armor, marine and coastal grade undercounter units built from 316 and 304 stainless with E-coated condensers. We repair Perlick ice makers, refrigerators and beverage centers in Oahu homes, near the ocean and inland.

What makes Perlick Armor different near the shore?

Perlick Armor differs in its metals. It mixes 316 and 304 stainless, uses 18-8 stainless and zinc-plated fasteners, and coats the condensers to resist salt. That lines up with what the University of Hawaii corrosion lab teaches: corrosion needs moisture, salty dust pulls moisture onto metal, and two different metals touching speed up attack. A standard indoor unit moved out to a breezy lanai lacks those defenses. If your bar sits outdoors near the water, the model number tells us which build you have.

Bar roots

How did a brass shop end up making home refrigerators?

Through beer. Robert K. Perlick, born in Germany in 1868, opened his Milwaukee brass works in 1917, making brass parts and battery terminals for vehicle makers. Through Prohibition the shop supplied brass dispensing parts to Milwaukee breweries, and after repeal it launched the direct draw pony pump. The 1970s brought modular underbar packages. Home refrigeration came in the 2000s. That bar background still shows in a residential line built around undercounter units, ice makers and mobile bars.

The company

Its first big market was beer. The company supplied brass dispensing gear to Milwaukee breweries during Prohibition and introduced the direct draw pony pump after repeal. Its Century Beer System debuted at the 1964 New York World's Fair and moved balanced beer up to 100 feet.
Yes. Perlick calls itself a fifth-generation family business, still locally owned and run from Milwaukee.
Yes. Ice makers sit beside undercounter refrigeration, column units and mobile bars in Perlick's residential line. Send the model number, say whether the bin is empty or the ice is melting together, and mention any water under the unit. Our ice maker troubleshooting page lists the checks to try before a visit.
In the 2000s, by the maker's own account, with Design Journal Platinum Awards starting in 2005.
Only a plastic one. Perlick wants non-abrasive tools such as soft cloths and plastic scouring pads, with alkaline, alkaline chlorinated or non-chloride cleaners. Anything harsher scratches the surface that has to fight salt air.

Care and coverage

No, Perlick lists condenser cleaning with control adjustments and door reversals as routine owner work.
Perhaps not, since Perlick's residential warranty runs only to the original retail buyer.
No. Spoiled food is excluded, and so is damage from low voltage, lightning or wiring that does not meet code.
Armor is the name Perlick uses for its marine and coastal grade undercounter units, introduced in 2022. The difference is in the materials: 316 and 304 stainless, stainless and zinc-plated fasteners, and E-coated condensers. A standard Signature Series unit is stainless inside and out but was not launched as coastal grade.
In writing, sent to Perlick's Milwaukee address before the warranty period ends. Keep a copy with the date.
