Samsung oven and range repair

A Samsung oven shows 150°F the moment preheat starts and only counts up once the cavity is hotter. A display parked at 150°F for a long time means the oven is not heating at all.

Is a slow Samsung oven actually faulty?

1

Empty it

Start cold. Take everything out and leave a single bare rack inside, so the test matches the one Samsung uses.

2

Set 350°F

Start preheat and keep the door shut. Time it to the beep, not with an oven thermometer, which Samsung says not to trust here.

3

Watch 20 min

The beep should come within 20 minutes. Longer than that with one rack inside is a fault worth a service visit.

4

Check voltage

Electric Samsung ranges need 240V. On less they still run but preheat slowly, and Samsung does not treat that as a defect.

Display codes

Samsung range codes worth knowing first

Most Samsung range codes clear with a power cycle. These six have a cause you can often find yourself before anyone opens the range.

What a Samsung gas range tells you about pressure

Samsung gives two clean signs. If the gas oven heats only while a cooktop burner is lit, supply pressure is too high. If burners light but go out, mostly when a second burner comes on, pressure is too low. Both go to the gas provider first. A single burner that lights late or with a puff of flame starts with a clean, seated burner head and cap and a clear orifice. Gas cooking is the exception here: EIA counts about 11% of Hawaii homes with a natural gas cooking appliance, against 85% with electric.

Heat, doors and codes

Read the model number inside the upper left of the oven door or in the bottom storage drawer and check it against the 2024 CPSC notice. It covers electric slide-ins sold from May 2013 through August 2024, NE63T8111SS/AA among the pictured models. The remedy is a knob lock kit, and Wi-Fi models can also send a Cooktop On alert through SmartThings.
Not in the notices we found; the 2024 Samsung range recall named electric slide-in models only.
Moisture has reached the ignition switches behind the knobs, often after a spill or wiping the panel. Run the oven or a burner to dry it, or unplug the range for a couple of hours or overnight. Still clicking after that, it needs service.
Often. Hold Child Lock for 3 seconds while pushing in the door plunger switch, then press lightly on the latch for about 20 seconds until it returns to open. Check that the racks and divider are fully in first. Bent hinges or other physical damage is not a warranty repair.
That is normal on electric models even without convection; gas ovens do not run it during preheat.

Gas, recall and smells

A faint smell from packaging and the protective oil is normal on first use. Pull out all plastic and zip ties, ventilate, and bake empty at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for one hour. A gas smell from a gas range is different, and Samsung sends that straight to your gas provider.
Samsung warns some birds are very sensitive to the fumes, so move them to a well-aired room far from the range.
A pan detection error: the pot is the wrong size, material or position, and the zone shuts off after 1 minute. Use magnetic cookware centered on the zone.
Use Thermostat Adjustment in Settings, or hold two keys such as Broil and 1 until ADJ 0 shows. A minus value makes it cooler.
The NE63T8111SS sheet lists 1 year of parts and labor. It is a 6.3 cu. ft. model on a 40A circuit with two 3000 W dual elements, a hidden bake element, and Self and Steam Clean. Check your own paperwork for other models; our warranty repair page covers how an in-warranty fault is usually handled.
