Viking refrigerator repair, one compressor or two
A Viking 5 Series built-in refrigerator cools on one variable speed DC compressor. A 7 Series carries two, so the fresh food and freezer sides each run on their own. Knowing which you own shapes how we diagnose it on Oahu.

Viking fridge signs worth reading right
A few Viking settings get mistaken for faults, and one symptom is a real safety issue. These six cover both. For ice that stops coming, our ice maker not making ice page walks through the checks for any brand.
Door stops short
7 Series doors ship stopped at 90°. They adjust to 105°. 5 Series doors ship at 110°.
Order light on
The water filter is nearly due. When the replace light comes on, put the new one in.
Drawer freezing food
On the FDBMIC7360 the two lower drawers switch modes. One may simply be set to freezer.
One zone colder
The Low Temp Zone on integrated models runs 2°F to 3°F below the main compartment on purpose.
Warm after a trip
Vacation mode may still be on from time away. Check the mode before suspecting the cooling system.
Door sags or shifts
On older 48 and 36 inch built-ins, doors that could detach were recalled. Stop using the door and call.
Why is one side of my Viking cold and the other warm?
On a 7 Series, each compartment has its own compressor, so one can fail while the other keeps working. On a 5 Series the single ProChill compressor serves both, so a warm side on that model calls for a different search. Either way the sealed system is well covered. Viking gives two years full, then parts and labor on the compressor, evaporator, condenser, tubing and dryer/strainer through year six, then parts only through year twelve. That is longer than most coverage on the unit, so the serial date is worth reading first.
Three Viking refrigerator recalls side by side
Two concern doors that could come off and one concerns dispenser wiring, so check the build window before any regular repair.
