Whirlpool quirks, one appliance at a time
Each Whirlpool line has its own published habits. These are the ones that explain a lot of calls before any part gets ordered.

Has Whirlpool recalled any appliances?
Yes, the CPSC lists Whirlpool recalls, including two worth knowing about in older homes. In July 2002, about seventeen thousand stacked 24-inch washer and gas dryer combinations sold as Whirlpool, Kenmore and GE were recalled because the dryer could overheat. In August 2004, 24,500 Whirlpool and KitchenAid freestanding ranges, double wall ovens and oven-microwave units followed, over wiring that could overheat and short. Plenty of Oahu rentals still run appliances from that era. Read the model and serial from the tag and compare them with the notice before you book anything.
