Maytag refrigerator and fridge repair
A flashing alarm on a Maytag side-by-side has a precise trigger: the fresh food side above 48°F, or the freezer above 15°F, for more than 1.5 hours. The light keeps flashing after the beeping stops, so you know it happened.

What is my Maytag fridge telling me?
Often the Maytag fridge is telling you about an event, not a broken part. PO means the power was off until the freezer reached 18°F or warmer; it beeps three times and waits for MEASURED FILL under Confirm. COOLING OFF usually means LOCK and MEASURED FILL were held together for 3 seconds while wiping the panel. Repeat that press. A flashing F is different. Cut power for one minute, restore it, check cooling is on and watch for one minute. If the F returns, the control has found a real fault.
Maytag fridge faults and where each one leads
These come straight from Maytag's own troubleshooting pages. Some you can settle in a minute at the panel. Others mean a part has failed and the cabinet will keep warming until it is replaced.
Alarm light flashing
Over-temperature alert. Check for a door left ajar or a recent outage, then press Alarm to clear it.
Lights stay on, door shut
The spring-loaded door switch may be stuck. A light that never shuts off adds heat inside the cabinet.
No water or ice
On some models the door switch must report a closed door before the dispenser works. Filter flow matters too.
Constant door-ajar beeps
A cabinet that is not level side to side can misalign the doors so the switch reads them wrongly.
Runs almost nonstop
Often normal. Maytag's high-efficiency compressor runs long at varying speeds. A fridge set too cold also runs longer.
Warm, with a clicking relay
On a side-by-side or top-freezer sold 2001 to 2004, check the 2009 relay recall before paying for parts.
