Miele coffee machine repair

When a Miele built-in coffee machine shows F1, F2, F80, F82, F353 or F354, the manual says to switch it off and wait about one hour. Only then switch it back on. If the code returns, we take it from there.

Cleaning schedule

The care routine Miele writes into the manual

1

Every day

Clean the milk container, the milk valve, the water container, the drip tray and the grounds container. Five parts, a few minutes.

2

Every week

Wipe the spout, the cup sensor and the interior, and rinse the brew unit and drip tray. Hand-wash the brew unit only.

3

Every month

Take the milk valve apart from the machine and clean it, then empty and wipe out the bean container before refilling it.

4

At 200 portions

The display asks for a degreasing program. It takes about 10 minutes and uses one cleaning tablet, so keep a supply on hand.

Placement

Where can a built-in Miele coffee machine go?

Somewhere the room stays between 60 and 100°F (16 to 38°C), at a height of at least 850 mm, and never behind a cabinet door that closes. Those three rules come straight from the installation instructions. A machine tucked into a pantry wall behind a door breaks the third one. If yours sits that way, mention it when you call, because the cabinet is part of the picture.

01

Features and fit

It means the machine is plumbed straight into the water supply instead of being filled by hand.
Three, through CoffeeSelect. The spec sheet also lists AutoDescale, AutoClean, the CupSensor and OneTouch for Two.
A niche 22 1/8 to 22 3/8 in wide, 17 3/4 to 17 7/8 in high and 21 3/4 in deep, with a 120 V supply.
When Miele added fully automatic countertop models, it said their internal technology matched its existing built-in units. So the brew unit care, descaling and cleaning habits on this page are a good guide for both, though the fault list here comes from a built-in manual.
No, Miele says hand-wash only, in warm water with no detergent.
02

Faults and upkeep

The display counts down the drinks left before descaling, and once it reaches zero the machine stays locked until the descaling program, about 35 minutes, has run. Plan for that half hour or so before guests arrive, not after.
It still matters here. USGS explains that heated hard water leaves calcium carbonate scale that can shorten equipment life, and Oahu's public water has historically tested soft to moderately hard, not soft across the board. Keep to the count on the display.
One step at a time, while beans are actually being ground. Miele notes the conical grinder wears slightly over time, which is normal.
Often, yes. The manual states that functional spare parts are supplied for at least 10 and up to 15 years after a model is discontinued, so a machine that has left the catalog can usually still be fixed. Parts not on hand on Oahu do have to be shipped in, which adds time.
Yes, a full-width closed shelf, unless the appliance below is a matching warming drawer.
