Miele refrigerator and fridge repair

Miele's spec sheet for the MasterCool KF 2912 Vi lists a 13-hour storage time if a fault stops the cooling. Keep both doors shut, note any message, and call while that window is still open.

Six signs on a Miele cooling drawer

These six come from Miele's manual for its built-under cooling drawers. We could not get the full-size MasterCool manual, so treat this list as drawer guidance. For the causes every brand shares, see the problem pages linked below.

Compressor runs long

Often normal. The compressor slows down when less cooling is needed and simply runs longer at that pace.

Frost on the walls

Ice or condensation inside sends Miele straight to the door seal. Check it sits fully in its groove.

Runs hot and hard

A dusty or blocked base grille makes the compressor run more and hotter. Brush or vacuum the gaps regularly.

Cold room, warm drawer

Below its climate class, the compressor rests longer and the inside creeps up. Check the class on the plate.

Warm after a big shop

A large load went in without SuperCool switched on ahead of time. The drawer then needs time to catch up.

Torn door seal

A damaged seal lets warm air in all day. Wipe seals monthly with mild soap; Miele made them tool-free to change.

Humid kitchens

Can two Miele units stand side by side here?

Only with the right heaters. The drawer manual says units without built-in side heaters must not be stacked or placed right next to another refrigeration unit, because condensation on the panels can corrode them in humid rooms. For full-size MasterCool pairs set side by side, the spec sheet calls for the KSK 2002 heating mat in the US. On Oahu that rule bites: windward lowlands typically sit at 70 to 80 percent humidity, and the UH corrosion lab says indoor air under 60 percent slows corrosion.

MasterCool column units

One exactly 36 in wide, 84 1/8 in high and 24 7/8 in deep.
On the KF 2912 Vi, up to 89 lb (40 kg) on the fridge door and 23 lb (10 kg) on the freezer door.
Yes. It has an ice maker fed from a water line, so when ice slows down, check the supply first. Low house pressure cuts each fill short and leaves cubes small or hollow, and anything stored in the bin besides ice can read as full. Our ice maker not making ice page covers the causes every brand shares.
It weighs 427 lb and sits fully integrated behind custom panels, so pulling it is a careful, planned job. Tell us when you book if the panels or trim were made to order, and whether anything was fixed to the cabinets around it. That lets us bring the right help and protect the floor.
Each drawer takes its own setpoint, anywhere from 32°F to 57°F (0°C to 14°C).

Built-under drawers

About 4 hours before the food goes in, says Miele.
No, the appliance defrosts itself. Ice that keeps building anyway usually points back to the door seal.
The room temperature range the unit is built for. The plate inside the cabinet shows one of four: SN covers 50 to 90°F, N 61 to 90°F, ST 61 to 100°F and T 61 to 109°F. Below that range the compressor rests longer and the inside warms up, which can look like a failed part when it is really the room.
Yes. Miele asks for at least 1 cubic meter, about 35 cu ft, of room per 8 g of refrigerant, and the charge is printed on the data plate. If the circuit is ever damaged, air the room out and keep sparks and flames away.
Not by itself. Miele says its compressor slows when less cooling is needed and runs longer as a result. GE, for comparison, designs its compressors to run 80 to 90 percent of the time, nearly 100 in hot, humid rooms. A warm drawer alongside long run times is the combination worth a call.
