Monogram built-ins

GE Monogram refrigerator and fridge repair

Lights on, display lit, nothing getting cold? ZIS, ZIC and ZFSB built-ins have a showroom demo mode that runs everything except the compressor. Unplugging the unit cancels it, which can save a service call.

Monogram fridge signs worth knowing

A Monogram built-in has more modes and drawers than a freestanding fridge, so a setting can look like a fault. These six come from Monogram's own manual and support pages.

Milk getting icy

Monogram's first fix is to set the fresh food side back to 5, or 37°F, and give it a day.

No ice, no water

Neither the ice maker nor the dispenser runs unless a filter or the bypass plug is in place.

Orange filter light

A change is coming soon. Red means it is due. The filter sits behind the top access panel.

Display and lights dark

Likely Sabbath mode, where cooling carries on by timer. It ends by itself after 96 hours.

No TurboCool button

On these built-ins, TurboCool and TurboFreeze are set only through the SmartHQ app.

Unit leans forward

Monogram calls these built-ins top heavy, mostly with doors open. The anti-tip system must be fitted.

Climate Control drawer

What runs the Monogram Climate Control drawer

It is a sealed drawer with its own dampers, a fan and a thermistor, so a drawer stuck at the wrong temperature has a short list of parts behind it. Express Thaw adds a small cycling heater. The manual's guide is about 4 hours for 0.5 lb, 8 hours for 1.5 lbs and 12 hours for 3.0 lbs, then the drawer falls back to the Meat range. Express Chill cools drinks in about 45 minutes. If either takes far longer, the fan or damper is the first suspect.

36, 42 and 48 inches, in the ZIS, ZISS and ZISB families. Examples from the current manual are the ZISS360D at 36 inches, the ZIS420N and ZISB420D at 42 inches, and the ZISS480D at 48 inches.
Five years for parts and labor on the compressor, condenser, evaporator and tubing. From year six through year twelve the sealed system parts stay covered, but the owner pays the trip and labor. The rest of the fridge has two years on any part with in-home labor, and an included filter gets 30 days.
Cold water at 33°F to 100°F and 40 to 120 psi, per the side-by-side manual.
Roughly 15 cycles a day of seven cubes each. Monogram says to throw out the first full bucket after a new install.

Coverage and models

Hold its control for 5 seconds. Displays, alarms and lights go off while cooling continues on timers, and the mode ends on its own after 96 hours, which is 4 days.
Yes. GE announced its first Monogram French-door built-in in December 2013, hand built in Selmer, Tennessee. It had two 18 inch doors over 14.49 cubic feet of fresh food space and a 6.06 cubic foot freezer drawer with an ice maker.
Yes. Monogram sells single and dual integrated columns, and GE's support site carries a separate installation walkthrough for them, which helps when a column was set in wrong.
Probably not. Check for Sabbath mode before booking a visit.
Monogram is a line made by GE Appliances, and its fridges use their own model families, so give us the Monogram model number when booking.
